Edinburgh ranked 29th best city for men
Edinburgh has just been ranked the 29th best city in the world to live in for men. AskMen.com have compiled the 29 Best Cities to Live in, from a list of 60 entrants. Chicago tops the list, with London in fourth spot.
As any man will testify the price of a pint of beer is surely a good starting point for assessing any city. Edinburgh suffered here with its average price per pint coming in at £3.83, while the overall average was £3.14. It’s not uncommon to pay £3 or £3.50 for a pint in Edinburgh, but I don’t think nearly £4 is an accurate reflection of life on the ground!
Edinburgh’s highest scores appear to come from:
- Fashion: points awarded for hosting a fashion festival and having at least one menswear-only store
- Health: points awarded if male heart disease is below world average and male lifespan is above the world average
- Dating & Sex: apparently 52% of Edinburgh’s population is female - get the bonus points out!
As the host for numerous world leading Arts Festivals and four Michelin starred restaurants I was surprised to find Edinburgh not scoring full marks in the culture rankings. The 2021 ‘liveability’ index is where Edinburgh scored lowest, which is a measurement of stable house pricing and green development.
Edinburgh scores higher than I’d have thought in the Sports and Entertainment section. As the capital city for Scotland, Edinburgh doesn’t have a single ‘massive’ sporting team which, as a male myself, is probably the only disappointing aspect of being a man in Edinburgh. But Edinburgh’s bars are open until at least 2am, which would have boosted the Entertainment score.
Huh. I always assumed you were female for some reason…!
29th?
I would rank Edinburgh as No.1 any day!
Absolutely amazing place to live!
