Edinburgh Bank of Scotland Fireworks concert: photos
The end of the Edinburgh International Festival (EIF) is celebrated each year by a spectacular firework show, launched from Castle Hill. By 9pm last night the normally traffic heavy Princes St was full of spectators gazing up over Edinburgh Castle at quite a fantastic fireworks display. Here are some photos of the fireworks and The Edinburgh Blog will shortly be adding a video of the fireworks, so check back soon.
Excerpts of Prokofiev’s Romeo & Juliet were played by The Scottish Chamber Orchestra and 9 pieces from this ballet were matched to the spectacular fireworks. This lasted approximately 45 minutes and not even the strong wind could deter the crowds from watching and applauding. Those who had bought tickets could enjoy watching the orchestra perform from Princes St gardens. At one stage the rockets made red love heart shapes in the sky (see picture below) .
So that’s the end of Edinburgh’s Festival Season for 2021: it’s been another good one.

The best Edinburgh festival fireworks show yet. The ‘heart’ fireworks for the ‘Death of Juliet’ were amazing, and moving. The opening and finale were stunning spectaculars. Brilliant. And as usual, the best of all the festival events.
