Metro Christmas Tree at Waverley station & noodles at Sushiya
Merry Christmas everyone! I returned to Edinburgh last night on a surprisingly on time GNER service to Edinburgh Waverley. While departing Edinburgh a week ago today I took some photos of the ‘Metro’ sponsored Christmas Tree at Edinburgh Waverley station, which I have included below:-
Metro is the free newspaper aimed at commuters. You can pick up a copy of the Edinburgh edition at Edinburgh’s train stations, on Edinburgh’s buses and also a few kiosks, such as the one in Edinburgh’s West End. It’s a decent read and really useful for passing the time on train journeys and bus rides in a morning. It’s certainly a decent Christmas Tree they’ve put up in Waverley station; complete with Metro branded baubles!
Last night I also grabbed some food at the excellent Sushiya on Dalry Road. This is a small, Japanese eatery with high tables and comfy tall stools. Service is always excellent and friendly. However the real star of the show here is their food. It is superb. I and my dining partner had Sushi to start with: mine was Tuna maki and hers was Cucumber maki. I think the price was around the £3 mark and this bought 6 rolls of each. Highly recommended!
For main we both had the delicious Yaki Soba noodles. Mine was served with breaded Chicken Breast while my dining partner had Teriyaki chicken. The presentation was matched only by the delicious taste of the food. We both ate every last noodle!
For desert we shared some of the authentic tasting Green Tea ice cream. I am always happy to eat at Sushiya for a great selection of Japanese food and highly recommend it. For £36 we enjoyed a delicious meal, in cosy surroundings, and enjoyed the £11 or so bottle of white wine included in this price.
This is the best and only Japanese place I eat from all the time. It may be small compared to other Japanese restaurants in Edinburgh but I love the independance of mixing and matching the choices on the menu.
